Red Bull Media House, Intel and free Runner Jason Paul Unveil Game Changing Sports Technology That Will Expand Human Performance at CES 2016

Intel Corporation (“Intel”) and Red Bull Media House today announced a new partnership, one that will soon change the way fans enjoy their favorite sports. The partnership’s first project, Intel Curie, collects real-time athletic performance data and delivers it to the screen in easy to read, high impact graphics to make action sports like free Running more engaging, relatable and entertaining than ever before.

Intel’s CEO, Brian Krzanich, made the announcement during his keynote address at the 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. During the presentation, Red Bull Media House CTO, Andi Gall, and free runner Jason Paul joined Krzanich to demonstrate such technology, Intel Curie, live on the stage. 

Attendees in person and around the world saw Curie’s precise calculations of Paul’s hang time, rotation, body angle, landing force, spin and much more. Paul and his fellow free running athletes can one day use this data to better understand their spins, jumps, vaults and flips in order to naturally conquer obstacles and do tricks never before thought possible. 

This technology will soon be used to enhance a wide variety of new programming across all Red Bull Media House platforms. Athletes can analyze and up-level their training by using this technology to tap into precise performance statistics and feedback that’s invisible to the naked eye. Athletes and coaches can spot improvement areas easier, analyze their performances in greater detail and get a better read on other athletes. Someday soon, judges might use this data to score competitions more efficiently and precisely.

Running a marathon on pavement is a big enough challenge; running one over urban rooftops seems impossible. Urban running is about pushing the limits of the human body, defying the laws of gravity, seeing the world from a fresh perspective and overcoming all obstacles.

We challenged Petair (Peter Sowinski, founder of Breakletics and member of the Flying Steps) and pro freerunner Pamela Forster to explore the city of Berlin and turn the skyline into their very own running playground. Rooftops, attics, stairwells and the Berlin running team, ParkourONE, inspire Petair and Forster to push themselves to even greater heights.

To push Urban Running to new limits, adidas brings sports science to where people run. The Futurecraft running shoe
was developed at their SPEEDFACTORY facility; the process uses motion capture and 3D imaging technology to better understand each runner and the shoes they wear.

SPEEDFACTORY is a faster, more innovative, reactive, tailored and sustainable running shoe manufacturing approach; it creates a completely unique product custom tailored to an athlete’s anatomy, the way they move through space and their style of play. This industry-changing innovation will soon take the lab to the street, all around the world.

‘GLA’ from riff to lyric sees Sam McTrusty transform into rock star royalty, against the backdrop of guitarist Barry McKenna’s searing lead lines, which are possessed of powerful complexity and nuance. ‘GLA’ was written in Glasgow, and the band repaired to Topanga Canyon in Los Angeles to record the album, working with Jacknife Lee (U2, Snow Patrol, Two Door Cinema Club) who had previously produced some tracks for previous Top 10 album 'Great Divide' (2014). Under his direction, they eschewed old school recording techniques, taping their parts separately. This change in their recording process marked the grander ambitions of the new songs, while their dream mixer Alan Moulder (best known for his unforgettable work with Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Foo Fighters and My Bloody Valentine) came aboard to give the album the essential finishing touch.

Original perspectives that inspire can now be found on the GoPro Channel on Red Bull TV

Today the GoPro Channel launches on Red Bull TV introducing unexpected and unseen perspectives to a global audience. Resulting from their partnership announced in May, when GoPro joined forces with Red Bull for a multi-year partnership, this new channel marks the first step of the two brands collaborating to innovate, produce and distribute world-class content.

To celebrate this newest content, the GoPro Channel is unveiling exclusive raw footage from the highly anticipated film, The Fourth Phase, featuring Travis Rice and Eric Jackson in Alaska.

The Fourth Phase will premiere October 2nd exclusively on Red Bull TV; but today, for three breathtaking minutes, viewers can walk in the shoes (or boots) of two world-class snowboarders as they capture behind-the-scenes footage from the deep backcountry—above and beyond what can be seen in the film’s official trailer.

The GoPro Channel on Red Bull TV will also feature two of its acclaimed original series, Chasing El Niño with Chris Benchetler and Two Roads, as well as additional content exposing the intimate, never-before-seen perspectives of some of the world’s top adventure sport athletes:

•    Chasing El Niño with Chris Benchetler is a four-part series that follows the world famous pro skier and adventurer as he searches for the best snow conditions up and down the West Coast of the USA and Canada during the 2015-2016 snow season.

•    Two Roads is an 11-part original series that follows eleven athletes and one coach who have made the commitment to pursue greatness. Each episode will showcase an athlete’s unique journey within their sport, and truly define the life-changing moments that led them to the path they currently walk.

500px Red Bull Photography Global Photo Walk on September 17 focuses on Action and Adventure

Red Bull Photography and 500px have joined forces to organize this year’s Global Photo Walk on September 17 2016. Over 200 locations on seven continents are expected to join the “Action and Adventure” themed photo walk.

The 500px Red Bull Photography Global Photo Walk is an annual event where thousands of photographers come together on the same day to take photographic walking tours of towns and cities across the globe.
The event celebrates local communities through photography – beautiful photos and experiences from the photo walks are then shared and enjoyed on the 500px platform.
In addition, photo walkers can enter their best action and adventure images to the Red Bull Illume photography competition. By registering for the special mobile contest on the Illume website, and entering images with the theme of “Action & Adventure” by September 18, one lucky participant will win a return trip for two to the Illume prize ceremony in Chicago.

“We’re excited to expand our relationship with Red Bull Photography for the 2016 walk. This year’s photo walk will switch gears and incorporate a new theme – Action & Adventure – into the walk,” said Andy Yang, CEO of 500px.
